Calvert Trust in Keswick
Added Date: 19th August 2017

Hello everyone, it is Ella here back with another blog, which is about the holiday that I have just arrived home from, which is Calvert Trust. I hope you enjoy reading it.

Calvert Trust is a residential centre in the Lake District that adapts activities for people who have disabilities. It is amazing because they can adapt everything from horse riding, to bush craft or zip wire. I love it because it helps me to boost my confidence every time I go and come back. This is why I thought I would write this blog about my experience about the past week with Duke of Edinburgh.

On Monday 24th July 2017, we set off on our way to Calvert Trust at 11:00 am then we arrived at around 13:30 pm. When we arrived we had to wait until 16:00 pm for our rooms were ready.

We then started the tour, where we found out where everything was and where to go in an emergency. After we completed the tour we got our kit. The kit consists of water proof pants, water proof jacket and wellies.

Then we were ...

Ella's Blog

on travel training. Please have a read
Added Date: 7th May 2016

Hello everyone, my name is Ella and today's blog is going to be about catching the bus by myself and learning how to catch the bus properly and all the different buses there are. In August 2014, I was told that my funding had been dropped for taxis to get to and from college. This meant I had to learn how to catch the bus.

A lady came to my house to evaluate me so that we would know whether I would be able to get the bus. From this, we were told to get a bus pass because I had to do travel t...

My holiday in LA and Vegas
Added Date: 27th August 2015

This blog will be about my holiday in LA and Vegas. For example, the things I did and the places I went.
This holiday was amazing because Rachel and Josh (Annie’s boyfriend) came with us and that was fantastic, because my mum and dad didn’t have to worry about me and Annie because I went off with Rachel and Annie went off with Josh to do our own things.
Our family came down to meet us in LA and then came to Vegas with us. We did lots of things with them, like going to Universal Studios in ...

How the Duke of Edinburgh changed my life
Added Date: 26th August 2015

I started Embrace in 2010 I was age 14. First I started on the activities in the school holidays as I was bored and had nothing to do. I could not go out on my own or with friends. As I was not safe because I did not know how to cross a road safely or how to travel there and back safe I did not know anything about stranger danger. Due to having moderate learning difficulties I struggled with money and how much change I would get back but now I am ok with money. When I was on the activities in th...

Added Date: 17th March 2015

Hi everyone, my name is Ella and this is my third blog. My first and second blog was about my first term at college and my Duke of Edinburgh award. This blog is about my excellent exam results.
I have recently done two exams that are Btec level 2 first award in Child Care and Btec level 2 first award in Health and Social Care. I thought the exams went okay and this was because I had the relevant notes to revise.
Overall, I thought that most of the exam was okay but some of the exams were hard ...

My experience of the Duke of Edinburgh
Added Date: 25th February 2015

Hi everyone my name is Ella Mawdsley and this is my second blog. My first blog was about my college so far. My second blog is about doing the Duke Of Edinburgh. The Duke of Edinburgh group gives me access to things that I don't think I would be able to do otherwise. When we go to Calvert Trust, we do things such as canoeing, zip wire and mountain walking. At Duke of Edinburgh, we do activities such as card tower building, egg shelter building and various physical activities.
