What is a residential college like?

Here's Ellie Greenaway's latest blog which gives us an insight into her life at residential college in Coventry
My new adventure at Hereward College in Coventry
I have moved to a residential college called Hereward in Coventry. I’m doing a level 2 performing arts course. I like doing performing arts because I like a bit of acting (but I get nervous when I am acting) and I love dancing.
I was home sick for the first few days but I have met some lovely friends who have helped me to settle in and I absolutely love it now.

On week nights we are allowed to stay up until half 10 but on weekend nights we can go to bed at 3am (I always go to bed at 3 on weekends).

I have to be assessed to go out with my peers, so when I’ve done my assessment I’ll be able to go out with my friends.
I thought that I wouldn’t ever be able to go to a residential college because I thought I would be home sick all the time, but I’m loving it so much and because of this I sometimes forget to ring my family and friends up.

I’m doing the best thing in my life by going residential and I feel like I’ve done the right thing by moving away and meet new people from different places. I feel like Hereward is my second home but I do miss my family and friends back in Wigan.

I’m having the best time of my life!
