Ella's Blog

Wigan 10k and my experience.

Hello everyone, it is Ella here back with another blog for you, which today is going to be about me taking part in the Wigan 10k over the past 2 years and how much I have improved whilst doing it. I really hope you enjoy reading it! On to the blog.

Over the past 2 years I have taken part in the Wigan 1k and my walking has improved whilst doing it over the past 2 years. Last year it took around 1 hour and 50 minutes because I had only walked 2k but this year it had taken me just over 2 hours to complete the Wigan10k because I had walked just over 4k, which is the farthest I have ever walked in my life! This year I did come last because it took me so long to complete the Wigan 10k because I really wanted to see how far I could walk because that is what you are supposed to do in the Wigan 10k either walk or run.

When I didn't walk I was in my wheelchair letting my feet have a rest from all the walking that I had done. The walk took us past farmfoods, then past the DW soccer dome and Oxygen trampaline centre, then through the DW stadium and along the running track at the leisure centre, then back on ourselves past farmfoods, through Wigan park and past the youth zone.

I had managed to walk up to the road where the DW soccer dome is. When I got in my wheelchair, I stayed in until 7k then I decided to get out of my wheelchair and walk until 8k, then got back into my wheelchair and later walked over the finish line screaming because I had completed it.

So, even though it took me longer to complete the Wigan 10k, I have completed it and I am planning to do it again next year. It was a great event that not only just brings people together, it also raises money for charities. I have really enjoyed writing this blog and doing the Wigan 10k.

Thanks for reading! I hope you enjoyed it!
